September 29, 2014 - We are turnin people from "Playboys to Prayboys" ;) haha

Hello Family! :)

I sure love you all so much and think about you guys everyday!

But Texas is real good as always! :) It is getting a little colder over here which is such a blessing because The Little Blue house has been havin some major difficulties. Our air Conditioner went down last week! hahah Sister Lagrosa doesn't like air/fans/any kind of breeze sleeping or even during the day. And you guys know me... I sleep with the window open when it is 20 degrees outside! hahah So HOLY COW! It has been some hot nights this week! But we finally got it fixed so no more hot nights! hallelujah!

Danny Maynard is the funniest person ever! hahah he is still trying to quit smoking! That is literally the last thing holding him back from getting baptized! He keeps trying but keeps fallin back! He is progressing so much though! He keeps saying he is so excited to be Baptized. but this week he told us that he knows Smokin is the only thing getting in between him and God. Hahah he text us this week and told us that we are turning him from a 'Playboy' to a 'Prayboy' hahaha sooo freakin funny.

Being out of sweet sweet Utah I realize how much drug use goes on outside of the Utah Bubble! Hahahah somedays I miss the Utah Bubble! We ran into all sorts of Tweekin people! (Hahah Learned that word means on drugs this week.. hahah)

But anyway... We were able to find a lot of people to teach this week! The first one we found was this black couple. hahaha The Husbands name is Jeffrey and the Ladies name is Dorthy. So funny story, we actually taught Jeffrey a few months ago. I swear he was really tweakin... and has some brain injuries from it or somethin?? hahaha He told us OVER 50 TIMES Not even exaggerating That His family Lives in Hollis Oklahoma, and he has a family reunion and he wanted us to go. hahah Sister Lagrosa and I would just say.. Sorry Jeffrey we cant but go to Hollis! It was hilarious. Back to the point, we were bikin around Little Childress and we saw him this week sittin on his porch! So we Climb off our bikes and go start talkin to him. He Gets reallyyy realllly excited to see us and says, GO INSIDE AND TALK TO MY WIFE! SHE IS HOME! :) So we are all okay... weird but we would love to... hahah so we go inside and start teaching his wife and she was 100% normal! :) Listened to everything we said, was so excited that Jesus Christ visited people in America and that the Book of Mormon is record of that! Her whole face lit up and said we could come back! :) So that was great! I am so excited to go back and teach her again this week!

So every week we go see this 92 year old lady named Theresa Hendrix. SHe is a member but is too old and too sick to make it to church so we go read with her! I don't know if I have told you guys about her or not? hahah But because she is 92 she has a really hard time remembering things! She has been looking for an envelope of money that she hid years ago! Everytime we go over there she asks us if we know where it is! hahahah But anyway... we go in and we are just visiting with her and she asks us to go into her bedroom and get out a jar of this Jalapeno Jelly for her. So I bend over and grab a jar and There is her Envelope! hahah I grab it and go take it to her. She had us Count it... hahahah she had 900 dollars in that envelope that she thought she lost! hahah I hope that I never lose that much money because of old age! While we were there, her house keeper named Maria came over to check on her! She is this sweet little Mexican lady! Side note: Man that girl has got a rump on her! haha it is like a table! Not even joking! hahah but she come over and starts asking us all sorts of questions about the "Mormons" We answered them all and she told us that she is has always wanted to meet with missionaries but hasn't ever had the chance! we had to leave and went over the her house the next day!

We taught her and her Son in law! He is this black guy who is soo nice! He is probably about 40 years old! He used to be a Preacher, until he read the bible and realized that everything that he has been taught and has been teaching his whole life is not right! Things like God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are 3 separate beings! After he learned this things he stopped going to church! So we got to teach him and Maria! He was so interested in everything we taught him! But holy cow he has a lot of knowledge of the Bible! I felt like a 1rst grader trying to teach a College Professor!
As I was in there I realized how grateful I am for the spirit and that although I dont know everything,(Not even close) the spirit does. and the spirit was able to testify of truth to him! Without the Holy Ghost, The words I say as a missionary means Nothing! God does not call the Qualified to teach his Gospel, but he qualifies the ones he calls and sends the Holy Ghost as the true teacher. I am so grateful for that!

President Heap changed the rule. We used to only be able to have dinner 3 times a week with families but now we can every night and holy cow we have been eating good! It is your "Texas" yummy food! :) Last night we had the worlds best Pulled pork sandwiches you could dream of. Hahaha Some reall good Texas Cookin! There is also this Little Mexican Taco Stand that Sister Lagrosa and I are hooked on now! Called Vamos Por Las Unos Tacos! :)  I love me some Tex Mex! I am even starting to like Hot things more! hahaha Everytime I say that out loud everyone says... "Wow, you are so white." hahaha I am so greatful that I didn't get called somewhere like Mexico because everyone would have laughed at me trying to speak like a Spanish chick!! But I love Texas!!

Sister Lagrosa and I are workin real hard runnin every morning to get the Texas Smoked Steaks off our Buns!

But I better Go! I am out of time! I Love you all sooo much! Have a wonderful week! :)

There is never ever ever enough time to e-mail! I wish that my e-mails did my weeks justice! There are always sooo many things to tell you guys about and never ever enough time!!

There was a member referral given to us this week! Her name is Britney! She is this really awesome girl! She is about 20 years old. Long story short she met some members that were staying at the hotel that she works at. They began talking about religion and they taught her that The book of Mormon is when Jesus Christ Came to ancient America and she was so interested! They referred her to us. So we got to teach her this week and she is so wonderful! She is just so full of the spirit. She had so many incredible questions! I am so excited to see how she progresses over the next couple of weeks! I will keep you guys posted!

President Heap changed the mission rule and now we are able to go to the temple once a transfer! We were able to go on Saturday and it was so wonderful! :) I was sooo excited! The temple is two hours away from us. It makes me wish that I would have been able to go the temple more while I lived like 5 minutes away from it!

You guys better send me updates on Baby RIchards! :) Sooo exciting! I knew before all of you suckas! ;) Sorry BB... I am going to be the favorite aunt. So just accept it now!
But it was another good week like always! On Thursday I was ridin our bike! We were taking a little birthday Present to this Guy JC Keys. (The one who hooked us up fishin the other week) and I was ridin down their hill of a drive way and hit a pile of rocks and wiped out!! hahah my back tire moved out from underneath me. hahah  I got to their door and  had blood all down my leg! They had to get me all fixed up... Prettyyyy embarrassinn!! (Stupid Picture wont attatch.)

This week we had the Apostle Elder Anderson come to Amarillo Stake and spoke at Stake Conference! It was so awesome! We got to drive down with Anna Dipietro and Carol Scott! I love thiem! Danny was there too! The spirit in that Chapel was so strong. My favorite part of the whole thing was at the very end he said. "I testify that Jesus Christ Lives. I Testify that he has shown himself to Prophets of Old. I Testify that he truly did appear to Joseph Smith. And I Testify that he is still here today and is present to Prophets and Apostles today." In other words..... HE AS SEEN JESUS CHRIST! My mind was blown. It was just even more clear to me that He truly I an apostle of the Lord. It was pretty incredible!

So sorry this e-mail is lame. and has no pictures I am out of time! This computer is tooo slow today So I haven't be able to do anything!!

I Love you guys sooooo sooo much!

-Morgiee!!

P.s. Transfers are this week so I will let you all know where I am goin on Monday! Maybe even staying here again!

September 8, 2014 - When you wear out a pair of shoes in Childress

(I have been trying to attach the picture of my shoes but The Internet is too bad here today.)
Everyone here says, "When you wear out a pair of Shoes in Childress, you always come back..." hahah and this week, I wore some holes into my shoes. So if the saying is true... then looks like in a couple years I will be movin back to Childress. ;) Totally joking. Thanks, but no thanks! hahahha I love Childress, but I would not like to move back here.... Hahah too many 14 year old Baby Mommas. Speaking of Baby Mommas, I may or may not have said that in a lesson a few days ago! hahaha. But its okay because our investigator got a crack out of it! Yikes....
So kinda funny story/Not funny for him. Hahah so Danny has a really bad heart. He is supposed to wear this vest that shocks his heart if it ever stops beating… He doesn’t ever wear it as much has he is supposed to. He actually hasn’t worn it for a few months! But anyway…  We were on our bikes on Thursday and he drove past us and then realized it was us so he pulled over and we biked up to his window and started talking to him. When we pulled up to him there was this beeping sound going on? We all thought one of his doors were open, hahah I started biking around his car trying to see if one of his doors were open… but nothing! His seatbelt was still on, so it wasn’t his seatbelt! We were all a little confused trying to figure out what it was… even to the point where he got out and opened up the hood of his car to see if something was wrong. We never figured it out. Later that night we went to teach him, and he said.. “I figured out what that beeping was. When I saw Yall I was really excited. And it was my heart beating irregularly.” Hahahah he told us that he almost had a heart attack! Scary, but kinda funny! Haha

This week IT POURED! We had sooo much rain here! And a lot of the streets here are dirt roads. So just imagine, dirt roads, 5 inches of rain, huge mud puddles everywhere. Hahah You would go down a street and there would be kids just playing in the mud pools! It was awesome! I was grateful that Thursday didn’t rain!

This week was great though! Danny is still goin strong! :) He hasn't drank in quite some time now! We just keep prayin that he keeps stayin strong! He said this is the hardest thing he has ever had to do and Satan is working on him really heard but he says there is nothing else that he wants more! :)

Hope all is going well! :) I was a little sad to see that I got e-mails from 1/6 of you! But I understand that you guys are busy! Just know That I love you all!

-Sister Carroll. xoxoxo

September 3, 2014

Another Wonderful week here in the Texas Lubbock Mission!
A Day in the Life In Childress Texas...

Good things are happening in Childress! On Sunday we had 4 investigators at church! I felt like I was a Clown in the Circus trying to juggle all of the Firey Pins! hahah I was trying to make all of them feel comfortable and make sure everyone was in the right place that they needed to be! But it was pretty need to have them all there! The teeny tiny room that we have sunday school in was jam packed! It is probably the size of.... our Laundry room and Bathroom put together. hhaha in that tiny room We had Danny, Scotty, and two kids named Eric and Alex, Sister Lagrosa and I, Our Teacher Brother Burcham and the two Elders! We were all rubbin Shoulders. :) They need a bigger building pronto. But it was so awesome!

Danny smoked on Sunday so unfortunately he will no be able to be Baptized on the 7th! But We met with him last night and he his now 3 days Clear of Smoking and 12 Days Clear of Drinking! :) He is doing it! We are shooting for the 20th! So keep him in your prayers!

Scotty is Dannys Nephew. I don't remember if I told you guys about him or not? But Danny has had such a change of heart that Scotty is wanting to learn more about what has helped Danny so much! :) So we have been teaching him too!

Alex and Eric are these two boys who we have been teaching that have been basically begging to be baptized! :) hahah

This week I learned a lot. We had Zone Conference! It was amazing! President Heap is the kind of guy that just speaks with the spirit! Everything he said You could just tell that he is truly an inspired guy! But He was instructing us, and we were talking about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Gospel that I teach every day consists of 5 things. Faith, Repentance, Baptism by Immersion Receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and Enduring to the End. Pretty Simple right? Everyone knows about the first 4. We all know we have to have Faith. We know that we have to act on that Faith and Repent. The Ultimate Repentance is Baptism. and the Gift that Heavenly Father gives us is the Holy Ghost. But what is the last Principle? What does it really mean to Endure to the End?

President Heap explained that once we are at step 4 we are not just done. We are not just 'Saved' Hahah (Funny Side note, So many people we try to talk to will shut us down and say.. "Honey, I don't need anything more. I have already been saved..") But if you really think about it, being saved does mean we are 'saved' but its not that simple. Once we are at step 4 we truly are not saved. We haven't hit our maximum potential.

We have to keep progressing. Simply keep Enduring. The last Principle, Enduring to the End, is Ultimately the Temple. Out here on my mission I am not out here to get these people to the first 4 and then quit. I have to get them to the Temple too! That is really the most important part here in Mortality. The Temple. It is where we are able to make promises with our Heavenly Father. Even more promises than at our Baptisms. In return, He promises to bless us. :) That is what puts The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints apart. Is the Temple, Modern Day Prophets, The Priesthood. (Gods Authority to act in his name.) and lastly The Book of Mormon. He has given us all the tools we need to endure. We just have to chose it!

The wonderful thing about this all is that when we chose it, Heavenly Father Blesses us. The more we serve him, the more he blesses us. The more we try to keep those promises, the more he blesses us. All by simply doing what is right! :) I think Hheavenlyfather has the short end of the stick sometimes. ;) But it was a wonderful Zone Conference! I learned so much! Sister Heap takes pictures and puts things up on her blog! if you want to go read it Mom! :)

So funny story that happened this week. :) (well last week) So it is bike day and we are just crusin down the street! and all the sudden the Winds starts shifting. It is blowing from all different directions, we see this HUGE black cloud coming our way! hahaha I kid you not... it literally looked like a huge mist of darkness coming our way. WE look at each other, we are honestly about 20 minutes away from our house! We kinda start freaking out. The worry wart gene I got from mom was coming out. I was thinking we were getting caught in the Tornado.. There was all sorts of crap flying around... The wind was probably blowing a good 40 mph? hahah we knew that we were going to get stuck right in the middle of this storm! We took off! pedaling as fast as our little legs/skirts would let us go! hahah one of our Members were looking outside right as we biked past her house. She saw us and Yells with so much panic and distress in her voice  "GIRLS, PUT YOUR BIKES IN MY GARAGE AND GET INSIDE!" hahaha We were saved. :) Heavenly Father truly does watch out for his Missionaries.

Well I am out of time! I love you guys so much! Cant wait to hear from you all next week!

-Sister Carroll.xoxoxo

Love you all!!!

August 25, 2014- Remember Me? ;)

Family!!! What is up?!?! :)

There are some wonderful things happening here in Sweet Sweet Childress!! :)(I swear I say that every week? Sorry bout it.)

Remember Last week how I told you guys about Danny? Well guess what?! this week we went over there and taught him the word of Wisdom. He told us that he has been an Alcoholic his whole life. That is what he has done to get him away from all the bad things of life. and also how he just 'hangs out.' Well a few days ago after our lesson he stand up and says "Follow me" we go out to his truck and he handed us all of his alcohol and also all of his cigarettes. He told us to pour all of it out!! and snap his cigarettes. How awesome is that? He has now been clean of all of that stuff for 4 days now! :)  It is such a wonderful thing to see how this gospel changes people! This is how happy I was when he told us to do that....

hahaha It was awesome. He is all set for his Baptism on the 7th of September. :) He is getting really excited. Keep him in your prayers!

This week we were able to meet some really awesome people! on Friday we went and helped out at a food bank. We carried out peoples food to their cars.. It made me realize how much I have been given. Never in my life have I ever worried about eating. (Hence the extra few inches ive always had;) ) But coming here I have realized that I have really been blessed with so much. The people here are so humble. They all have such a happiness here. Hahahah I have never in my life seen so many Huge toothless grins. :) They need Soon to be Dentist Dr Richards and Hygienist Mrs. Richards out here!! ;) hahaha But all joking aside, Everyone here is  so willing to do whatever they can for you even if it is giving you the very last water bottle they have for the week.

I dunno what it is with me and flat tires but holy freaking crap! I swear everywhere I go there is another flat tire... But this week Our investigator Vickie had a flat tire. She didn't know how to change it or do anything. Well because We had a flat tire a few weeks ago I learned from that Elder How to change it a car flat! So Sister Carroll and Lagrossa to the Rescue!! Not only am I learning more about the gospel out here But I am learning about other things too!! Its a good thing I was always 'The Boy Carroll' hahaha
Vickie is doing awesome also! She his week I learned a lot about Charity. If we truly want to have that Christ Like Love for people we have to serve them. Not only does it make the people we serve happy, but it also brings us a lot more happiness. That being said, I have a challenge for all of you. Every single day, go out of your way to do something kind for someone else. I promise you that it will make your day better! You will begin to feel a stronger love for that person. That service is contagious.  :)

Random Side Note.. Cute Little Childress Branch is growing so much that they are going to be adding on the the teeny tiny building they have here! They are starting the construction in about October which means that we are going to start meeting in a Presbyterian church. hahah I hope I am here to see that day.

I love you all so much! I miss you guys like crazy! Have a 'Blessed week!'

-Sista Carroll.

xoxoxox
came to church yesterday and She really enjoyed it! We found out that she has a learning disability so we have to go back and re-teach her a lot of what we have already taught her but ever since we have been meeting with her, her countenance has changed and she is becoming noticeably happier.

August 18, 2014 - Summer is Windin Down here in Childress!

First of all... Shout out to my beautiful Big Sister From Graduating from Dental Hygiene School! (You got all the brains that I was supposed to get) ;) I am so proud of you! Not only are you going to make the best Dental Hygienist, but also the prettiest!

Can you believe that this summer is almost over already? All the kids start school this next week and it blows my MIND! How quick it has gone! Crazy!

Although I was missin my family quite a bit this week, it was definitely a great week!
I got a new companion this week! Her name is Sister Lagrosa! She grew up in Virginia! She is a convert of a few years! She is seriously awesome! She is so different from Sister Ethington but it is a good change. When we dropped Sister Ethington of in Lubbock.. We both cried like little babies! hahah I am going to miss her! Hands down best trainer I could have asked for! But Sister Lagrosa is great! She is Filipino and has been out for over a year. She has had a really hard life. She has to go talk to a psychiatrist every couple of months just because of her childhood. So it is a lot different from spunky little sister Ethington. She is a lot a lot a lot more shy than me so I do 95 percent of the talking when teaching So Even In this past week I have learned soo much! But she is really kind so it is a good change! Ill send a pic next week! :)

Today for our P-Day we went fishing in one of the Members Backyards! It was seriously so fun! hahaha I was sad that It had to end so fast! :) But we caught 8 of these little baby Fishies! It was a blast! But funny story, I was fishin... its like 100 degrees outside here at 7am... so it was dang hot... but a blast. :) hahah But I am sittin there just watchin my little bobber.. and I see it go under... I JUMP UP! Start Reelin it in and it was suchhh a heavy fish! I thought I was going to have a monster! I reeled it in and lifted up and guess what it was...... A TURTLE!!! I CAUGHT A TURTLE! I felt so sad!  hahah I tried to get that hook out of him sooo quick! He lived. But I still felt realllll bad! haha

So this week was so wonderful! We have some awesome Investigators! Right now we are teaching this guy named Danny! He has just barely got divorced from his wife of 28 years! He is going to be Baptized on the 31st of August! He is awesome! He is trying to quit smoking right now. ANd he has an alcohol problem that he is wanting to work through right now! But he told us yesterday that he knows it is true!

We have also been working with this Lady named Vickie and Her Daughter named Rebecca! She is the sweetest lady ever! She takes care of one of the Ladies from our church's 101 Year old Mom! hahah So that is how we came in contact with her! She also accepted to be baptized along with her 11 year old Daughter Rebecca on the 31st! The work here in Childress is progressing! So I will keep you all in contact!

Sorry kinda a boring e-mail this week but We have to go! :)  I love you guys sooo much!! I am happy and healthy!

I miss you all!! :)

-Sister Carroll!

August 11, 2014 - Transfer results are in... ;)

We got our Transfer calls Saturday night and Drum-roll Please...... ;)

I am staying here in Childress for at least 6 more weeks!! and could not be more happy about it! :) So my address is still the same. Sister Ethington is going to Midland so tomorrow night I will have a brand new companion! It is going to be so weird, but I am so excited! I guess my new companion is a convert of only like two years ago! I am stoked to meet her! But I will definitely miss Sister Ethington!

There are so many cool/funny/crazy things to talk to you guys about today!! hahaha

Crazy Story Number One!!

So there is this guy named Rickey. We met him a few weeks ago on the streets while he was working on his car. He is Tatted!! Has all sorts of gauges, facial hair, just kinda a rough lookin guy to be honest. But sooo nice none the less! So we meet him, he tells us to come back a different time to teach him. So this week we went back to teach him. He told us that he has been locked up for a few years and that is when he found Jesus Christ.. We continued to teach him the Gospel. So we go home and that night we are looking through the area book.(A binder full of Peoples records that previous missionaries have taught.) We find Ricky.. the same guy and on his description He was is Prison for 25+ years For Murder!! He has stabbed Multiple people! hahaha Pretty crazy! Us two little blondes teaching a Murderer... pretty sketchy. But Mom, don't worry God protects his missionaries. ;) hahaha

Another Crazy Story.... We have been teaching this man named Robert Smith. Such a nice guy! He his this happy Happy black guy.. like weirdly happy guy. hahah So we have taught him at the church a couple of times and this week we went to his house to teach him. We had a member with us going over to teach him. He comes to the door and this weird odor came out of their house. He goes, "Sorry It took so long I thought yall were the police." He had a few people over. Invited us in. We asked if we could come back and teach him a different time. We go back to the car and the member we were with she goes.. "Just so yall know that was the smell of crack" (and all sorts of drugs I don't even know the name of)... hahaha a Murderer and Drug Dealer all in one week.

Tender Mercy of the week: On Monday we went to the Grocery store. Livin the Mission life you've got a REAL tight Budget. You learn real quick your needs vs. Wants. :) So we were debating if we were going to buy Peanut Butter or not this week. hahah We get up to the Check out line and we tell our Cashier to wait on the Peanut Butter not only because we don't have enough Money this week but our waists didn't need it either. ;) Not really thinking anything of it. So a few days later, we go to teach this lady named Katra that we have been teaching for a few weeks. At the end of the Lesson she goes, "I have something for yall" She pulls out Two Jars of Peanut Butter and hands them to us and says "I have a spy that told me that you two didn't get your Peanut Butter you wanted the other day" You know me... Little Cry Baby at the first sign of anyone doing something nice for me hahaha So all three of us were getting all choked up. It was so thoughtful of her! I could feel Gods love for me. Heavenly Father knows all of us. He loves all of us and he shows us his love sometimes through other people. It was such a Tender Mercy.

The work here in Childress is heatin up! We have some awesome Investigators! I can not wait for the next couple weeks to see how they all play out. I am so glad that I am staying here In childress again!

Quick Rundown on our Investigators!

Robbie: This guy who is wanting to get Baptized that we have been teaching forever but he has to get Married first. So there could possibly be a wedding here in Childress in the near future! Boo Yahhh!!

Rob: This way awesome guy who has "The" and "End" Tattooed on his Eyelids. He loved the Book of Mormon! More to come when we teach him again.

Vickie and Children: LOVES THE PLAN OF SALVATION. Said that she has been looking for the truth for years and said ever since we have been teaching her she feels like a completely different person.

Alicia and Daughter: Said she has received and answer that it is true she is just waiting for one more confirmation.

Well my time is up! :) You know that goes! I love you all so much! I miss you guys but there is nowhere else I would rather be!

-Sister Morgan Carroll. :)

August 4, 2014

August 4, 2014 - August Already!?!?

Jeeze!! Can you guys believe it is already August? This year has gone by soooo dang fast!!

The work here is really picking up! I wish I had 5 hours to tell you guys all about the wonderful people here that we are teaching!

This is cute Sister DiPietro! Today she taught us how to make Tortillas! So nice! I will never be a good Tortilla roller. The people in Cafe Rio Make it look so easy! I love this lady!! hahah She is the kindest person in the world! We Love her! The people here in Childress are some of the nicest people I have ever met in my life!

Listen to this awesome Miracle!! :) So earlier this week we were trying to find some more people to teach, and there is this black momma sittin out on the front porch so we go and start talkin to her. Her name is Alicia. She is the sweetest lady ever and works at The Dollar General. :) While we were talkin to her, not even kidding, she put like a whole jar of Shea Butter Stuff in her hair... hahah. But anyway, we set up an appointment. The next day, we were were over at a members house and we were getting their family pumped up about missionary work, and Sister Tipa told us that for some reason she has been thinking so strong about this lady named Alicia that needs to be taught, and we put it together that it is the same Lady! God answers prayers! It was seriously so amazing. We taught her the Restoration and she just Loved it. She agreed to being baptized the end of August! So keep her in your prayers!! :)

These are the darling Tipa Boys! hahaha they had to be the missionaries and teach us! It was so funny!
We have been working with some of the Members here in the cute little Childress Branch this week! This one lady, her name is Julia. She has 5 kids! She has been inactive for 20 years because she has been on all sorts of really hard drugs, like crack! She has also been Dipping! Well we have been working with her and she has got off all of her addictions and was able to go through the temple! It was so incredible to know that I am literally changing peoples lives! It is such a blessing! Her daughter is BBs age and we were talking to her and she just started crying and said "I dont think she would have ever changed if y'all wouldnt have come to Childress." It really was so incredible. It just goes to show that God calls you to exactly where you need to be!

The work here in Childress is taking off! This week we were able to pick up so many incredible investigators! I am so excited for what the next couple weeks have to offer! Transfers are this week. Most likely I will stay here in Childress and Sister Ethington will leave. Hahah because there is this guy who is in Love with her and send her all these Love texts. So I am probably going to stay here! I will let you guys know for sure this next week! But I hope that i stay here because we are working with some wonderful people!!

We went and had Interviews with our new Mission President! He is literally the nicest person in the whole world! Mom, I know that was something you were worried about that, but do not worry about it anymore. I absolutely love him! I swear he knew exactly what I was having a hard time with, without even having to tell him. He is the best!

I am 'Fixin to go' <--- All the Texans say that! :( I love you guys!!! Have a wonderful week! xoxoxo

July 21, 2014 - Crazy Week

What a week!!! :)

Hahahah it started off a little crazzyy!! We were driving to Amarillo for our Zone Training. Cruzin down the 75 MPH Highway, just blasting some "Hymns go Acoustic" hahah. approximately 7 am.. hahahaha and all the sudden we hear this Thudding noise... Both of us slowly look at each other with eyeballs the size of Texas.. and I Go... "Sister that is a flat tire! That is a Flat Tire! Pull Over Pull Over!!" "Do you know how to change a Tire? Cause I Dont.. " hahahah we both just start laughing!! So we pull over and we  had blown out our tire! hahaha We start freaking out because neither of us little blondes know how to change a tire... hahahaha Childress is in the middle of freaking No where. It is 2 hours from Amarillo and the closest Missionaries are Clarendon which is 1 Hour From Amarillo and an Hour from Childress hahah So as we are calling The Clarendon Elders, all the sudden They pull up right behind us! hahah such a blessing. They saw two Blonde girls standing on the side of the road... hahah Heavenly Father Takes Care of his missionaries. hahah Elder Brown To the Rescue! hahah He changed that thing in approximately 5 Minutes! We Lived!

After Zone Training we had to take our Car in get our tire fixed and it was a 2 Hour wait. SO accross the street was Cavenders! Hahaha holy Cow! I have never seen so many Boots! They were alll sooo cute! This picture doesn't even do it justice. This was probably 1/10th of the boots in that store! Welcome to Texas! hahaha (Dont Mind the Horrible Shirt tuck Job. I swear I haven't Gained 50 Pounds) We have been working real hard! We have 16 new Investigators that we are going to start teaching. One of them is a family with 14 kids! None of them are adopted! all are full blood! I guess Mormons arent the only ones with big families..  So we have been so busy! Which is such a blessing! The Lord really is Hastening his work. It is incredible to see how many people are looking for the truth! I feel so blessed to be here! So funny story, We were going over to teach this lady named Jannette who is bed Ridden. hahaha She was in bed and we went and knock on her door and she told us to come back later and that she wasnt feeling well. (We are literally yelling back and forth to her through the door) hahaha and she yells at us and asked us if we would say a prayer right there for her... hahaha SO I start laughing because we are literally yelling to her. as loud as we can. haha so Sister Ethington looks at me and tells me to say it because we are both just laughing. So I begin to say the prayer. Hahaha SO i pull myself together and say this prayer. I get through it and she goes "Didn't hear a word you said But thank you." hahaha It was hilarious. Maybe one of those You had to be there moments but gosh it was funny.

On Saturday it was Sister Ethingtons Birthday! I woke up at approx 3Am to secretly decorate our house with all of those streamers... hahah I decked that place out! So thank you so much mom for sending me all of that stuff. It worked out perfectly!

Yesterday we went to this Lady Carol Scotts house. She lives like 20 minutes outside of Town. Down this dirt road. She has like 10 Cows, Chickens, Horses, all this fun stuff. But as we were driving I realized how much I am starting To Love the Country and also my mission! It is seriously beautiful out here. As I am starting to gain a stronger Love and appreciation for my Heavenly Father, I am also
starting to gain a strong appreciation for all the things and people here too. I feel like I am truly beginning to see people how He sees everyone. I am so happy here. This decision has already changed my life!

I will forever be in debt to Him for all of the things that he has blessed me with! I didnt realize how lucky I was to grow up with Parents who are actually normal hahah and who have given me everything that I could possibly ever need. I am so fortunate!

But My Times up! I love you all sooo much!!
Thank you for all of your Love and support!
Until Next Week!

July 14, 2014 - Its Getting Hot Up In Here!!!

Sweet Death, Texas Is Hot!! and its only getting Hotter!
This week it hit over 100 degrees everyday! hahah Jeeze! Bike day was a Humid sticky day! hahah Gotta love me some Texas Weather.

Sorry We don't have much time this week!

We got our new Mission President! President and Sister Heap! They are awesome! Literally the nicest people ever! I swear he has the Bible and Book of Mormon Memorized! They came and sat at our table during lunch right as we were swapping some horror stories with some elders about our 4th of July lunch! hahah Sister Heap Nearly gagged at our little lunch experience! hahaha They are the nicest! I saw Reggie Walbeck at the Zone Conference and he is going home this transfer. So weird that it has already been two years for him and it is just starting for me! But I love it and am so happy to be here!

We had a bunch of set lessons punch this week! (They were a no show or weren't home) and also had a bunch of people drop us! But some weeks are better than others! Ya gotta take the good with the bad!

We were teaching this old couple named Dan and Dortha. hahaha they are this 80 year old couple. They both have these Recliner Lazy Boys that they never leave those chairs. hahaha but they are soo nice. But anyway, we were teaching them. It is like their 3rd lesson and after we taught them the Plan of Salvation, Dortha goes, "Well Honey, I have prayed about it all, I believe in The Book of Mormon, the Celestial Kingdom and the Spirit world." So we were like, wow that is Awesome! and She told us how happy she is reading and stuff. At the end of the lesson she goes,I have learned all that I need to so I don't want yall coming over anymore to teach us? hahah We were sooo confused.. We tried explaining that it is a continual thing and she has to keep learning to strengthen her faith but wouldn't let us come over anymore... Hahaha didn't make any sense.

This week we met this lady, hahaha and she started telling us what we believe. I think it is so funny for some reason when they tell me What I believe. hahaha She goes You guys believe in a different God than The whole world does. Its not the same Jesus Christ. She told us that we have "Magical Underwear" and when we asked if we could leave her with a prayer, hahah after the prayer she goes, "It would've been an okay prayer if yall would've said If it be thy will and the same God I pray to." hahaha people are sooo ignorant. But I love the people here in Texas. Everyday there is a funny story! I wish I had more time!

This week was this guy named James Whites Birthday! hahah He invited Sister Ethington and I over to his 78th Birthday Party! He is the nicest man in the whole world. Hhahah check out dem Dentures. I seriously Love the guy! It has been a wonderful week though! I have learned so much. There is no where else I would rather be! I am sorry I am out of time! I love you all so much! I miss you all!!

This week I got a letter from Dillon and Sally with 20 dollars in it so please tell them all I said thank you and I love them! I am going to send them letters Tomorrow to thank them but just tell them I am so grateful! :) Kellys Package was really cute! It had all sorts of Red White and Blue stuff in it! Sooo nice.

4th Of July was awesome!!!!!! NOT! ;) (edited out by Mindy) please refer to picture You get the idea
Then we taught a few more lessons that day we had to be in at 6 So we watched some fire works from our porch and then lit some sparklers that Kelly Sent me and then played Battle ship! It was still a really good day! Hahahaha a Day I will never in my life forget...Oh the things you see in Freakin Texas...

So on Sunday Flora Nail Was Baptized!! WAHOO!! It was wonderful! So on Saturday Flora was throwing up blood... Sketchy so we were sad that She would probably have to wait another week because of health! She called us and said, Rain or Shine I am getting Baptized tomorrow! I will not let satan win! hahahah it was so funny! But so she stuck it out and was Baptized! Hahaha but the second she was Baptized she took some pills and slept through her whole Baptism program and also Sacrament after she received the Holy Ghost.. hahaha it was so funny. She kept waking up and saying, "Oh I am so sorry. OH I am so Sorry" This darn Medicine. But She said that she has never felt so good in her whole life! hahahah I love that sweet Lady.

We taught a bunch of lessons this week! We stayed super busy! This one Lady we started teaching her name is MaryAnn! She works at the prison here and asked an inmate to make her a bible cover and the guy in prison told her that her church is bogus and to contact missionaries and find out more about the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints! hahaha So awesome! So she went to her dentist who is a member and referred her to us! hahah SO we have been teaching her! She is seriously awesome! She said that a lot of the things we have taught her has filled in so many questions she has had but in her religion they always say not to ask questions because it is doubting God so she has been to scared to ask!

But everything here in Childress is awesome! I am loving it here! We are workin really hard!

But I have to go! I love you guys so much! Have so much fun In Cali!! I love YOu guys!!! xoxoxoxo

June 30, 2014 - CHARLES GOT BAPTIZED

Sweet Sweet Family!

I hope that you all had so much fun in Boise! I am sure you guys had a blast! I am sad to hear about Grandpas Eye! Super random? But I am glad that he is doing better!!

CHARLES GOT BAPTIZEDD!! Wahooo!! It was so wonderful! Before his baptism he was like a little school boy! Bouncing in his seat. But trying to play it cool! hahah After He was baptized he said that he has never felt so good. Hahah During his confirmation I peeked up at him and he had such a smurk on his face! hahah after Church we were talking to him and I called him out on his little smurk and he said that he was just so happy that he couldn't even hold it in! hahaha He knows it is true. We have been teaching him for 3 weeks, he has already finished the book of Mormon and was just completely ecstatic! Seeing his happiness makes all of this worth it. Being out here has definitely been the hardest thing I have ever had to do but seeing that spirit that he carries now makes all of this hard work worth it. There is nowhere else I would rather be.

Remember Jose?? Well he told us this week that even though he was a lot happier coming to church every week and praying and reading the Book of Mormon he is going to stop meeting with us and re-marry his ex-wife now? Hahaha he is so funny when he talks about her because all he does is complain about his ex wife, how much he hates her and how all she does is steal all of his money but is going to get married to her again... hahah does that make sense to you? because it doesn't make sense to me! hahah To each is their own I guess.

More bad news! Remember Martin and Donna? Well this week they told us to come over because the wanted to "Talk" hahah I felt like it was a High School break up... ;)  Walking into their house Sister Ethington and I just had our fingers crossed that they wanted to make it official and become a part of The Church. hahah we were palm sweat nervous. ;) We went over there and started to talk to them. Martin said that this is the first Church that he has ever gone to that was able to answer a lot of his questions. We were on the edge our our seats. He said he loves the Book of Mormon, it makes him so happy and everything we have taught. They said that they feel the spirit when they come to church and when they learn more. Great right?!? We were stoked! Marin then continued to tell us that the only problem is that this This church would hold him back from his full potential. We were so confused..? He told us that his dream is to become a preacher! He is now going to take the things that we taught him, from the Book of Mormon, and create his own church. So that was pretty devastating to hear also!

FLORA NAIL! Okay so this is a lady that we have been teaching! She had infected kidney stones. So we went to visit her in the hospital. As soon as we sat down and started talking to her, she handed us this little piece of paper and told us to read it, it said something along the lines of, "I have had God put some great people in my life to help me find the truth. I have prayed about these things which they have taught me and I now know where I should be. I know Joseph Smith is a true Prophet. I am so excited to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints."

It was the best little paper I have ever read! I feel so blessed that I am changing lives out here in Childress! This is the Gospel and the teachings that we need to follow to receive our greatest glory that we can obtain, and live with our father in heaven again! I know that if we strive every day to continually live the things that Jesus taught then we will be able to live with him again. Because Joseph Smith restored the Gospel on this earth again for us, we are able to know exactly what Gods Will is for us. I know these things are true because I have prayed about them for myself! I love you all so much!

P.s.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY THIS WEEEK!!! Y'all <--- ;) better do some big fire works for me to see here in Childyyyy! I love you guys sooo much and will talk to you guys next week!!
