June 2, 2014 - The First Full Week In The Field!

What a week!! :) It was definitely an adventure.

I don't even know where to start.  I have so much to tell you guys about.

Like I said last week, we are the first sisters that have ever been in this area! Well we got our mission wide weekly e-mail from our Mission President and he said "Our new sister areas are leading the way in the work. They report investigators are already attending church.  And so far, small cities seem to be faring really well with the arrival of our sisters." Talk about a shout out. Hahahah in other words, Childress Texas is so prepared. There are soo many people here that are in between churches and are trying to find the truth! We have 7 baptism dates set up for the 15th and the 22nd! How awesome is that? I hope that none of them fall through but I feel so excited that there are so many people that are ready to make the first step to being in harmony with The Lord. Missionary Work is so fun and so rewarding.

So we met this guy named Martin Rodriguez the other day! It was kinda crazy because we met him, the next day we met his son, the day after that we met his other son. Before we would even introduce ourselves they would say.. I know who you guys are my dad already told us about you. hahah They are a family where they have a long line of Baptist preachers! The grandpa was one, the great grandpa, so on and so fourth! So we basically met their whole family just by coincidence. After meeting his 3rd son, they finally agreed to just letting us come over and teach them the first lesson. They were just very curious what we were doing!  So we go over to teach them, We had to clear up a few things first like the fact that we are not the "Sisterwives." hahaha but anyway we started to teach them The Restoration. The spirit in there was so strong! They were so excited about it. They agreed to let us come back and teach them the next lesson, So we went back a few days later and he had read like 5 chapters already in the Book of Mormon and he said that it intrigues him! He said that he hopes that he learns that it is true! How awesome is that? We are converting a freaking future Baptist Preacher! I pray that he will continue to learn the truths of the Gospel! We are going back to teach him again tonight! I am pumped.

So on Saturday the same guy asked us to come to his car show that he is putting on. He said it would be a perfect opportunity to meet a lot of people and pass out some cards. hahahah So we are like okay awesome! This will be cool. He then tells us it is at Walmart... So we are like okay... what the heck. hahah So we get to walmart and we are driving through the parking lot expecting some awesome Car Show. (Not sure why I thought it would be a lot of cool cars I am In Childress Texas.... ) hahah but after driving around the parking lot for a good 5 minutes we finally realize that the Childress Car show consisted of 3 Cars and 2 motorcycles.. hahahah We were laughing so hard! Some Car show. ;)

So Thursday was bike day! I was sooooo freaking excited because I loved bike day last time! After Thursday, I no longer like bike days. hahahah Joking, but I am serious. So there we are riding our bikes in skirts with cute helmets ;) In 90 degree weather. Sound like fun right? So I am so excited and within the first 5 second I realize that the skirt I am wearing is not a good Bike day skirt. I begin riding and I notice that my skirt is flying everywhere! hahah So all day Long I was riding my bike one handed while the other was holding my skirt from flying up. Then after we had been to a few appointments we are riding and my Skirt gets stuck in the back brakes... hahahah So i push on my brakes to get it unstuck... and have to use my back brake because my left hand (the front break hand) is holding down my skirt. I had no other choice. So my bike burns a huge hole in my skirt.. (I am now down 3 skirts. hahah mom, Please send in some reinforcements! okay... dumb joke. ;) but I really could use a few skirts.) So at this point we are pretty far away from home. (as far away as we could be in Childress Texas... hahah)Probably like 7 Miles away! So I cant go home and change I just kinda suck it up, laugh it off. There is no point in getting mad about it so I just Laugh and we had a few other appointments to get to! We get to our last appointment of the day and we come out and my tire is as flat as a pancake. hahaha So the guy we were teaching has a bike pump and pumps up my back tire and we begin to ride home... Within 5 seconds my tire is flat again. hahha So I just walked home. It was a rough Thursday!

But Other than that day every other day has been wonderful! We had 22 lessons that we taught this week! We had 3 of our investigators in church on Sunday!

This gospel is just coming a life in my mind. As I learn more and more my testimony is just strengthened more and more! I know with my whole heart that this church is true. It is so incredible to see how it changes people. This man named Jose, we have been teaching has been smoking for over 30 years. He committed to stop smoking and he hasn't smoked for 3 days! I know that with Gods help we are able to accomplish anything that we need to! That is exactly how I feel about my mission. It will be hard and there will be harder days than others but if we just rely on our Heavenly Father we can overcome anything!
I am out of time! But just know that I love you all! I am so sorry that I can not take the time to e-mail every single one of you back! If I could I would! But Just know that I am so happy and grateful to be out here on a mission!

Sister Carroll!

This is Jose. He can not read without glasses and lost his so he uses these. we call them his cat Woman Glasses.
